The Last Silent Hurrah (Original Poetry)

The Last Silent Hurrah

It’s the final curtain,
A last silent hurrah,
The show was uncertain
And now we can withdraw.
What was played, now a lie.
Feel free to vilify.

Bow to the quiet crowd.
With a flourish and smile,
While you stand by, unbowed.
I will take my exile,
And leave without a sound.
While my love becomes drowned.

Years from now, when I’m gone,
I wonder if you’ll care.
I was a foolish fawn,
Never thought to beware –
You. You were true to me.
It’s just an empty plea.
